In the past week, we've had more friends stop by to see the little one and several were sweet enough to bring us dinner!! We really do have an awesome group of family and friends :) Kudos to those that stuck around long enough, braving the chaos of our messy house full of animals and a sometimes screaming baby :) We greatly appreciate your patience while we are "under construction" over here! We are still working on establishing a routine for both baby and parents...
Madison had a big day on Monday, the 5th, when her Mimi, Great Granny Jo, and Great Aunt Lillian came to Houston for the day to visit! She was spoiled ALL day with cuddles and kisses :) What a life!
I was really worried about the 4th of July since Katy allows people to shoot off fireworks. Sure enough, our neighbors must have dropped a mortgage payment on them and we had to deal with not just one, but many nights of festivities. Obviously, they were the worst on the actual holiday night. Our sheltie, Bismarck, angrily barked at the fireworks and Dashall (the big scarier looking dog) just cowered in a corner all night. Thankfully, neither the fireworks or Bismarck's barking woke up Madison; however, it was the start of many BAD sleep nights to follow. She woke up shortly after the fireworks finally stopped and never wanted to go back to sleep...
She's always been really hard to get down (and stay down) after the feeding that falls around 1-2am, but she's been especially difficult the past few days!!! She's been waking up about every 1.5-2hrs - wide-eyed and hungry - and when you do finally get her back to sleep (in your arms) she will cry as soon as you set her down. Last night was especially bad. I ended up having to hold her from 2am-10am. She wouldn't even calm down when I put her in her infant seat/chair thing that she usually LOVES! We tried her in the crib first, then the seat, and finally set up the pack N play in our bedroom. She slept for 2 solid hrs, so we thought we had success, but then she absolutely refused to go back down on her own after that 2am feeding. She's also been spitting up more (sometimes projectile vomiting) so Danny and I are pretty sure she has at least some degree of reflux so she doesn't like to lay flat on her back. I took her to the doc today and he said she may indeed be somewhat reflux-y but he wants us to try switching her to soy formula for a week to see if that helps. He and I both agreed that she's definitely going through a growth spurt right now and therefore voraciously hungry! And maybe that's why she's been so fussy??
So after the doc appt I bought the Fisher Price Rock N Play Sleeper - it's the only one that has been deemed safe as a bassinet also - that was recommended to me by Danny's cousin Stephanie whose 2 month old has had similar reflux issues. It has an angled back that should help with her reflux and is deep so it feels like she's being held. I set it up this afternoon, gave her a whopping 4 oz of soy formula and slept almost 3.5 hrs straight in her new rocker!! :) She woke up for her next feeding, took another 3 oz, and went right back down to sleep. Please pray that this continues through the night!!! Mommy and Daddy are SLEEPY!!

So glad the Rock and Play is working!!! And for all those nerves ninnies out there, the sides are mesh. No SIDS risk!!! Hope all goes well tonight!! {Sleep tight Madison}
